Elizabeth Stauffer Obituary

Elizabeth L. (Hille) Stauffer, 86, of Fleetwood, passed away early Saturday morning, December 15, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 3, 1932, in Norristown, she was the daughter of Eleanor L. (Clements) and J. Edward Hille. The love of her life, her husband, Curvous P. Stauffer, Jr., passed away on July 16, 2001. They were married on June 11, 1955 in Norristown and enjoyed over 46 years of marriage together.

Elizabeth was a longtime music educator in Berks County. She began instructing the Kutztown High School Choral groups and then went on to Fleetwood School District where she spent over 30 years teaching in the middle school music and choral departments and also taught elementary instrumental music. Elizabeth continued her love for the students at Fleetwood by participating in the SMILES program at Fleetwood School District.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, for over 60 years. She worked as the Visitation Coordinator at St. Paul’s since 2003, ensuring that shut-ins and ill members were never separated from the love and care of her church. She spent many years directing the youth and children’s choirs as well as being involved on church council, the worship and music team, adult choir, altar guild, WELCA and the prayer shawl ministry.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Norristown High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from West Chester State College. She later went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Education at Kutztown State College. Elizabeth loved knitting, crotcheting, painting and water coloring, baking her famous Christmas cookies and especially spending time with her family. She never missed an event and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth is survived by her six children, Sandra L. Stauffer, Tempe, AZ, David W. Stauffer, husband of Sherri I. (Hoffman) Stauffer, Manheim, PA, Bradley P. Stauffer, husband of Ann C. (McMurtrie) Stauffer, Aiken, SC, Gwen L. Stauffer, wife of Mark V. Taylor, Santa Barbara, CA, Anne K. (Stauffer) Fisher, wife of Paul S. Fisher, Blandon and Linda R. (Stauffer) Bollendorf, wife of Kyle P. Bollendorf, Fleetwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle, Alison, Kelly, Evan, Theodore, Adam, Alexander, Elizabeth, Matthew, Emily, Samuel and Laurel, her great-grandchildren, Kade, Gannon, Talon, Melanie, Adelie, Maximus, Nikolai and two on the way, her brother, Capt. Edward P. Hille, US Navy (Ret.), husband of Susan (Gray) Hille, Chapel Hill, NC and her sister, Edith L. (Hille) Kurtz, wife of Lloyd Kurtz, Ephrata.

Along with her parents and her husband, Curvous, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Sean Michael Stauffer, her brother, Eugene Hille and her sisters, Elaine Brown and Eleanor Brooks.

Memorial Services for Elizabeth will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch Street, Fleetwood, A visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church.
