Gene C. Dinino Sr.

Gene C. Dinino Sr., 84, of Kutztown, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family who loved him so dearly.

Born August 7, 1934 in Reading, Gene was the son of the late Elmer B. and Rose T. (Augustine) Dinino. Gene married the love of his life, his wife Patricia, on January 1, 1955 in Berean Baptist Church, Reading. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.

Gene worked for many years as a printer. He worked for Pagoda Printing, Reading as well as Curry Printing. He had also worked on duplicating machines for HC Korner Company.

Gene served his country honorably and faithfully as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Lt. General Hunter Liggett Post #38 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reading.

Gene was most well known for his time as a referee. Gene was a longtime college referee for the NCAA. He also was a PIAA referee and for youth football as well. He coached youth football for the Rising Sun Athletic Association, Reading and was a huge Philly sports fan. He loved his Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers and truly enjoyed playing golf.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, Gene is survived by his three children, Debra A. (Dinino) Urban, wife of David W. Urban, Kutztown, Gene C. Dinino Jr., husband of Kelley (Whittenberg) Dinino, Henderson, Nevada and Judy L. (Dinino) Landis, wife of Terry E. Landis, Sinton, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erika, Christopher, Alexandra, Ariel and Joseph, his great-grandchildren, Camryn, Austin, Caden, Jovie, Carter, Lana and one on the way, and his sisters, Maria (Dinino) Brockhouse, Beaver Falls, PA and Victoria A. (Dinino) Hetrick, wife of Larry Hetrick, Louisville, OH.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Sandy L. Dinino, William R. Dinino, Luana R. Uhler, Elmer B. Dinino Jr., Adele Dinino and John Dinino.

A Memorial Service for Gene will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, with Rev. Gary L. Walbert, officiating. A visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Private Burial with Military Honors will take place in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tuckerton.
