Marie B. (Kovich) Lafferty, 87, of Birdsboro, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Reading Hospital.
Born September 15, 1932 in St. Clair, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Veronica (Simchena) Kovich. Her husband of 43 years, Walter Lafferty Jr., passed away on August 30, 1995.
Marie worked for many years as a nurses aide. She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, Hawthorne Home, Wyomissing Lodge and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Reading. Marie also worked at Boscov’s East as a sales clerk and waitress and at Kmart in Exeter.
Marie was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Fleetwood and had attended St. Clair High School. She loved reading, doing word book puzzles and especially spending time with her family.
Marie is survived by her four children, Madel M. (Lafferty) DiPaula, wife of Francis X. “Skip” DiPaula Jr., Middle River, MD, Cynthia A. (Lafferty) Surran, Exeter, Sterling J. Lafferty, Birdsboro and Walter A. Lafferty, husband of Karen S. (Rittenbaugh) Lafferty, Douglassville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Beck, Chris and his wife Jessica, Sean and his wife Yoko, Erin and her husband Adam, Sarah and her husband Brett, Angela, Dylan and Jordyn, her great-grandchildren, Emily, Aidan, Ethan, Makoto, Miles, Ezora, Enso, David, Connor and Arya, and by her brothers, John T. Kovich, husband of Judy Kovich, Williamsport and Michael P. Kovich, St. Clair.
Funeral Services for Marie will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
Viewings for Marie will be held on Monday evening, December 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
