Rev. Dr. Angel L. (Garcia) Garcia

Rev. Dr. Angel L. Garcia, 60, of Reading, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Reading Hospital.

Born November 28, 1958 in New York, NY, he was the son of Sophia (Guzman) Santiago, Reading and the late Rev. Prudencio E. Garcia.

Rev. Dr. Garcia was an ordained minister for over 37 years. He worked with the Assembly of Christian Churches and preached at many of their area churches. He obtained his bachelor’s degree through the Assembly of Christian Churches Bible Institute and went on to receive his Doctorate in Bible Theology from the University of California. He loved all New York sports teams, especially the New York Football Giants and the New York Mets.

Rev. Dr. Garcia is survived by his four children, Annette Garcia, Germantown, MD, Angel L. Garcia Jr., husband of Angelica Garcia, Germantown, MD, Erica Rodriguez, wife of Samuel Rodriguez Jr., Indianapolis, IN and Elijah Garcia, Silver Spring, MD. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 9 siblings, Nehemiah Garcia, Reading, Sofia Garcia, Manhattan, NY, Julia Garcia, Puerto Rico, Esther Garcia, De Leon Springs, FL, Joel Garcia Sr., husband of Aida (Rodriguez) Garcia, Reading, Damaris Melendez, wife of Manuel Melendez, West Reading, Rosa Garcia, Reading, Elizabeth Robles, wife of Roberto Robles, Reading and Evelyn Moran, wife of Jose Moran, Reading.

In addition to his father, Rev. Dr. Garcia was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruben, Samuel, Rosa Maria, Benjamin, David and Joshua.

A viewing for Rev. Dr. Garcia will be held on Monday evening, January 7, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family followed by burial in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
