Thelma Zeiner Obituary

Thelma Irene Zeiner, wife of Earl E. Zeiner for 64 1/2 years labored to take her last breath on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018 at 8:50 pm at the Topton Lutheran Home with her daughters, Lydia and Yvonne, son Daryl and husband, Earl, by her side, having fought Alzheimer’s for four and a half years and a broken right hip from August 31, 2018. She was a Lutheran Christian and now she awaits her bodily resurrection, as per her Lord Jesus Christ.

She was the daughter of the late John and Martha Paul of Siegersville, PA, born December 18, 1933 in Allentown Hospital and was raised by her maternal grandmother, Clara Belle Baer (Mrs. James), now departed, whom she always called “Mother”. Precededing her in death in addition to her parents and grandmother was her brother, Robert.

Thelma married her childhood sweetheart, Earl, on May 29, 1954 in Muhlenberg College’s Gideon F. Egner Chapel, Allentown, PA and from that union she became a super devoted and caring mother to six children, Bryan, Layne, Yvonne, Lydia, Daryn and Daryl, eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jessica, Rebecca, Christopher, Tanner, Travis, Kyleigh and Heidi and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thelma Started singing and dancing at age 3 and continued until she was 19. She performed in hundreds of events in Eastern Pennsylvania and during that time entered 20 contests and won 18 first places and 2 second places. She could harmonize with any singer. She entertained with Uncle Jack and Mary Lou, Willis Meyer, Hank Lawson and the Bums, Circle J. Ranchriders of Quakertown, the Sleepy Hollow Band of Pennsburg and Martha Hillegass’ Broadway Buckeroos. She managed a switchboard at Lehigh Valley Trust Bank, Allentown for many years, worked as a notions salesperson at SS Kresge, worked as a cashier at McDonalds, receptionist at ABC Dance and did sales for Avon and Shaklee. She and Earl loved dancing, especially waltzes, polkas and slow steps.

She excelled as a homemaker, sewing, decorating and organizing. She loved to talk with anyone and loved holding babies. She truly enjoyed the mountains and the color red.
