A. Frederick Saul, 88, of Douglassville, passed away suddenly, at his home, on Friday evening, April 24, 2026.
Born April 5, 1938, in Philadelphia, Fred was the son of the late Alva (Dinger) and Adolfe Saul. He and his wife of 64 years, Karen B. (Lahr) Saul, were married on August 11, 1961, in Easton, PA.
Fred served his country honorably and faithfully as a mention of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Fred was a 1956 graduate of Boyertown High School. He worked repairing machinery for Air Products. Fred first took over his father's business, Electronic Sales and Service, and later, when his brother, Ted, joined the business, it was renamed Saul's TV and Appliance, Gilbertsville.
Fred was a member of Trinity E.C. Church, Boyertown. He was an active member for 60+ years, traveled to serve with the church as a dedicated Missionary Man, assisted with running the sound system, helped in the church garden, and served every other week as an usher. Fred enjoyed tinkering with old televisions and radios and was a member of the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club since 2010.
Fred has had many hobbies over the years of his life such as volleyball, basketball, art, travel, gardening, walking, having yard sales, and sharing skills with his younger generations. He will be so very missed by many in the community and is certainly an honorable man. We remember him in his later years dedicating himself to his art and family garden. He also enjoyed visiting many of his friends and family for trips to local auctions and sharing his life stories.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Karen, are his daughter, Cheryl D. (Saul) Phillips, wife of Ray Phillips, Boyertown, his son, Craig E. Saul, widower of Mary K. (Kull) Saul, Altoona, his grandchildren, Tyler Phillips, fiancé of Melissa Green, and Megan Phillips, his great-grandchildren, Lexi and Hannah, and by his brothers, Ted Saul, husband of Linda Saul, and Eric Saul, husband of Betty Saul.
Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Houck and Faith Saul.
A Memorial Service for Fred will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 am at Trinity EC Church, 250 Swinehart Road, Boyertown, with Pastor Les Cool officiating.
Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Fleetwood, is honored to be caring for Fred and his family. Messages of comfort and sympathy can be offered to Fred's family at www.WalbertFuneralHome.com.
