Amocetia D. (Preddie) Beckford, 76, of Leesport, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, PA.

Born March 7, 1939 in Manchester, Jamaica, she was a daughter of the late Iris A. (Bryan) and James A. Preddie.

Amocetia was a graduate of the Campbell's Castle Church Seventh Day Adventist School in Manchester, Jamaica and a graduate of Nursing School in Birmingham, England. She went on to work as a registered nurse both in England and in the United States.

Amocetia was the owner of Beckford Rentals, Reading, since 1978. She was a member of Grace Outlet Seventh Day Adventist Church, Reading and former member of Kenhorst Seventh Day Adventist Church. Amocetia was very active in mission work, having served in Reading, New York City, California, Florida, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, England, South American and Puerto Rico. She especially loved teaching children.

She is survived by three daughters, Blossom V. (Beckford) Brackman, Reading, Camalita L. Beckford, Reading, Pauline M. (Beckford) James, Laurel, MD; a son, Hugh A. Beckford, husband of Sherma K. (Donovan) Beckford, Stafford, VA, a granddaughter, Eletha Beckford, two grandsons, Kalei M. Beckford and T.J. Beckford, 3 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter.

Amocetia is also survived by her four sisters, Dorothea (Preddie) Johnson, Apopka, FL, Ludell (Preddie) Black, Bronx, NY, Lascena (Preddie) Ukpong, Bronx, NY, Valerie, Wales, United Kingdom; two brothers, Carlie Preddie, Apopka, FL and Burnett Preddie, Apopka, FL and 30 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Amocetia was preceded in death by her brothers, Wesney Preddie and Horace Preddie.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 12 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA, with Pastor Kris Eckenroth, Pastor of Grace Outlet S.D.A. Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp. Viewings will be held on Thursday, April 30th, from 6 to 8 pm at Grace Outlet S.D.A. Church, 621 Centre Ave, Reading, and again on Friday, May 1st from 10 am to 12 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, Fleetwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Amocetia's memory to the Blue Mountain Academy, 2363 Mountain Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526.
