Mrs. Catharine J. "Kay" (Swoyer) Reidnauer, 80, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on Sunday evening, October 19, 2025, at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township, PA.
Born August 7, 1945, in Reading, Kay was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Jane L. (Seyfert) Swoyer. She and her husband, Lawrence T. "Terry" Reidnauer, would have been married 25 years on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. They were married on October 21, 2000, at Zion Blue Mountain Church, Strausstown.
Kay was a 1963 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. She went on to study English and journalism at Reading Area Community College and Penn State University, Berks Campus. She also took continuing education courses for insurance at Penn State Berks.
Kay began her career as a customer service representative for CNA insurance. She earned her license in insurance and worked for Allstate & Encompass Insurance Companies as a Customer Service Representative and Licensed Insurance Agent in Sales. Kay also worked for Western Southern Life Insurance, Cincinnati, OH, where she was one of their first female debit agents and achieved her designation as a member of the Life Underwriters Training Council.
Kay was a longtime member of Maidencreek Church where she served on church council, sang in the senior choir for 65 years, was part of the outreach ministry and a member of the Maidencreek Players. She was a member of the Blandon Lioness Club and a tutor for the Berks County Literary Society. Kay loved painting, especially birdhouses that were built by her husband, Terry, and always marked with her signature bumble bee.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Terry, are her sons, Larry J. Frankhouser Jr., and Chad A. Reidnauer, Morgantown, PA, and her grandchildren, Makayla, Bobby and Khloe.
Along with her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jocelyn, and her brothers, Harold C. Swoyer and Jan G. Swoyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
A viewing for Kay will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
