Dorothy Mae (Gross) Zorn

Dorothy Mae “Dottie” (Gross) Zorn, 89, of Kutztown, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018.

Born May 3, 1929 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Sella L. (Jewitt) Dissinger and Raymond Gross. She and her husband of 62 years, Richard S. “Stu” Zorn, were married on October 6, 1956 in Zion Lutheran Parsonage, Philadelphia.

Dottie was a ward clerk at Pennsylvania Hospital and then went on to United Lutheran Publication House as a billing clerk. She also worked at Philco in key punching and in payroll for Proctor Electric. She attended Olney High School, Philadelphia.

She was christened an Episcopalian, attended a lutheran church in Philadelphia and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Royersford, where she assisted her husband as sexton of the church. She volunteered for the USO at the Naval Yard, Philadelphia as well as other locations. She was an assistant Brownie Leader and enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, crotcheting, embroidering and singing in the choir.

In addition to her husband, Stu, Dottie is survived by her daughter, Donna L. (Zorn) Jones, wife of William H. Jones, Milton, DE and her grandson, Zachary J. Jones, husband of Krystle M. Baker, Philadelphia.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Estelle B. (Gross) Redner.

Services for Dottie will be private.
