George W. Honsberger

George W. Honsberger, 77, of Reading, passed away on Thurs, Sept. 17, 2015 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph, Reading.

Born on Jan 18, 1938 in Reading, he was a son of the late George I. and Mildred C. (Lukas) Honsberger.

George was a security manager for Kmart and Lit Brothers, a correctional officer at Berks County Prison and a PA State Constable. He served as President of the 13th Ward Democratic Organization, President of the Democratic Council of Berks County, President of the Allied Democratic Clubs of Berks County and the President of the Americus Club. In addition, George was a Democratic Committeeman for 30 years, a Democratic State Committeeman for 8 years, served on the Democratic State Committee Executive Board for 8 years, a member of the Berks County Prison Board and the City of Reading Charter Study Board.

George was a United States Navy Veteran.

George is survived by his brothers, Charles E. Honsberger, Shillington and Bernard J. Honsberger, Highland, IL. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Karma, Celeste, Tina, Eric and Michael and his great nieces and nephews, Jacqueline, Jordan, Cali and James.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael A. Honsberger and Edward I. Honsberger.

Services for George will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
