Henry A. Spayd, 90, of Fleetwood, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Reading Hospital.
Born January 8, 1935, in Reading, Henry was the son of the late John and Edna (Klee) Spayd. He and his wife of 53 years, Patricia A. (Gordon) Spayd, were married in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, on July 22, 1972.
Henry served his country honorably and faithfully as a Damage Control Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Henry was a 1952 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. He worked as a roller on the hot mills at Carpenter Technology for 38 years. Henry was a member of Fleetwood Bible Church and enjoyed golfing, trap shooting and, in his younger years, was very active in sports. He also loved the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Henry is survived by his three daughters, Terry A. (Derr) Royer, wife of Matthew S. Royer, Forest, VA, Tracy A. (Derr) Schwenig, wife of Raymond R. Schwenig, Fleetwood, and Stefanie A. (Spayd) Huber, wife of Christopher Huber, West Reading. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Travis, Christian and his wife, Charissa, Joshua and his wife, Mackenzie, Kayla, Elyse and her husband, Tanner, Maxwell, and Hazel, his great-grandchildren Elaina, Sophia, Joanna, David, Ezriel, Arlo, and Maia, his sister, Helen (Spayd) Peters, wife of Richard Peters, Fleetwood, his nephew, Dale Peters, husband of Barbara Peters, Cincinnati, OH, and by his two great-nieces.
Memorial Services for Henry will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. A visitation for Henry will be held Tuesday, from 1:00 pm until time of services, at the funeral home.
