John L. DeFrees

John L. DeFrees, 75, of Wyomissing, passed away on Friday morning, November 3, 2017 at his home.

Born May 9, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Eleanor L. (Laudenslager) DeFrees, Topton, and the late Edward J. DeFrees. John and his wife of 50 years, Lynn M. (Scott) DeFrees, were married on March 18, 1967 at St. Mary's UCC, Reading, PA.

John worked for Western Electric, AT & T, Lucent Technologies and Agere as associate engineer in the microelectronics group.

John served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a 1960 graduate of Exeter High School and later served 6 years as an Exeter Township Supervisor. John loved cars, woodworking, computers, motorcycles and trains.

In addition to his wife and mother, John is survived by two sons, John S. "Scott" DeFrees, husband of Jennifer (Devine) DeFrees, Bernville and Todd E. DeFrees, husband of Karen L. (Bansner) DeFrees, Blandon, his grandchildren, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Isabella and Mason, and brothers, Ronald DeFrees, husband of Joyce DeFrees, Exeter Twp. and Brian DeFrees, Bryn Mawr, PA.

Memorial Services for John will be held on Monday evening, November 6, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Private Burial with Military Honors will take place in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp.
