John P. O'Sullivan, 76, of Kutztown, passed away on Monday evening, February 20, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township, PA.
Born December 27, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late James B. and Helen T. (Flynn) O'Sullivan. He and the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Niki J. (Grivas) O'Sullivan, were married on July 19, 1969 in Tucson, Arizona.
John spent his 40-year career with Western Electric and its successors, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Agere. He worked as a metallurgical engineer and as a manager in the microelectronics, environmental, and safety divisions.
John graduated from Salpointe High School in Tucson, Arizona in 1964 and received his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1968. He went on to earn his Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and his Executive Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
A member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Kutztown, he loved reading and growing blueberries. Most of all, though, John was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren enjoying holidays and birthdays together, playing board games, and going to the movies. With coffee in hand, he loved to sit around the kitchen table sharing stories with loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Niki, John is survived by his five children, Dr. Sarah K. O'Sullivan, wife of Dan Paddock, York, PA, Dr. Cassandra L. (O'Sullivan) Sachar, wife of Simon Sachar, Bloomsburg, PA, Sian M. (O'Sullivan) Bailey, wife of James Bailey, Punta Gorda, FL, Eleanore R. (O'Sullivan) Chambers, wife of Josh Chambers, Kutztown, and Garth P. O'Sullivan, husband of Krystal Torres, Kutztown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ronan, Finley, Serena, Bruce, Luke, Alexander, Carson, Genavieve and Ava, his sister, Maureen (O'Sullivan) Kimes, Tucson, AZ, his brother, James O'Sullivan, husband of Margaret O'Sullivan, Tucson, AZ, and by his niece, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Milne.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
