Kenneth D. Swartzentruber, 18, of Fleetwood, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in Ruscombmanor Township, PA.
Born October 13, 2005, in Fleetwood, Kenneth was the son of Susan Kornelsen, Blandon, and Curvin L. Swartzentruber, Fleetwood.
Kenneth was a senior at Lighthouse Christian Academy, Lyons, and the Berks Career & Technology Center, Oley. Kenneth attended Pine Grove Community Church, Pine Grove, PA, and New Life Bible Fellowship, Oley, PA. He also worked as a server at Bear Creek Mountain Resort, where he was named employee of the month in January.
Kenneth was a highly skilled Cabinetry & Wood Technology student at the Berks Career and Technology Center. At BCTC, Kenneth was a part of the Restoring Hope of Berks County home renovations team, a member of the student-built house project team and would assist on live-work projects for the program. Kenneth was a member of the SkillsUSA student organization where he was both a competitor as well as an officer. Additionally, Kenneth was a member of the National Technical Honor Society and a Student Ambassador for the school. Above all else, Kenneth was an exceptional young student and young man who emulated leadership and provided mentorship to his peers.
Kenneth was truly a gifted young man who was led by his faith in how he loved and cared for others. This faith was no more evident than in his own words when he wrote to God, “Help me to serve you and others first, and myself last. Help me to love others as you would.”
Kenneth was passionate about life. He was a fierce competitor, enjoying basketball, volleyball, soccer and ping pong. He placed 1st three years in a row in the ACE Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition for ping pong. Kenneth also enjoyed music, playing flute and piano, and was very loyal to his friends and family.
Kenneth is survived by his mother, Susan Kornelsen, Blandon, his father, Curvin L. Swartzentruber, husband of Elvethia (Barboza) Swartzentruber, Fleetwood, his brothers and sisters, Lynette S. Carver, wife of Alec Carver, Louisville, KY, Dannel L. Swartzentruber, husband of Valerie (Shook) Swartzentruber, Pensacola, FL, Devon K. Swartzentruber, West Bend, WI, Jonathan L. Swartzentruber, Fleetwood, and Bethany A. Swartzentruber, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Colton Carver and Natalie Swartzentruber, his maternal grandparents, Venus and Annie Kornelsen, Heredia, Costa Rica, his paternal grandmother, JoAnne Swartzentruber, Shoemakersville, his stepbrothers, Daniel Barboza, Gabriel Barboza and Ariel Barboza, his stepsister, Genesis Barboza, and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Linford Swartzentruber.
Funeral Services for Kenneth will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 6:00 pm at GT Church, 1110 Snyder Road, West Lawn, PA. Burial will take place privately with his family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kenneth’s memory to the New Life Bible Fellowship Church, Attn: Fund for Kenneth, 2960 W. Philadelphia Ave, Oley, PA 19547. These gifts in Kenneth’s memory will be used to fund projects that he was passionate about and that focus on Kenneth’s faith in God.
