Mary M. Ludwig

Mary Martha (Hauser) Ludwig, 79, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, Riverview Florida, on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Born July 24, 1945 in Lansing, Michigan, Mary was the daughter of the late Walter and Opel Hauser. She and her husband of 56 years, Gary L. Ludwig, were married in Lansing, Michigan on December 28, 1968.

Mary spent her life in service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, both in her activities in her churches as well as in the education of children. She was a teacher at Chesapeake Public School District, where she served as a reading resource teacher and then as a gifted resource teacher, and finally at the Little Lambs Preschool at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Chesapeake, Virginia. She also taught at schools in Kalkaska, Michigan, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, in New Jersey for several years.

Mary loved worshipping Jesus and was active at her church, Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Lakewood Ranch, Florida. She was a leader of a ladies growth group for the past several years and also belonged to the Sisters in Christ Bible Study. She loved singing in the choir.

Mary was a graduate of Lansing High School, Lansing, Michigan. After studying at Lansing Community College, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Spring Arbor College, Spring Arbor, Michigan and her Master of Science Degree in Education from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Mary truly enjoyed spending time with Gary and their many friends, especially square dancing with Gary and playing cards.

Surviving in addition to her husband , Gary, are several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, John Hauser.

Memorial Services for Mary will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 14605 59th Ave E, Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
