Mrs. Mary H. (Lipton) Hill, 86, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 in Nokomis, FL., surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Fleetwood Pa. for 51 years.
Born August 15, 1934 in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Mary A. (McEneaney) Lipton.
She and the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Lee L. Hill, were married on June 23, 1956 in Port Washington, NY.
Mary, nickname "Mike", lived a full and wonderful life. She grew up in Port Washington NY graduating from H.S. with honors in 1952. She went on to graduate from East Stroudsburg University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education and received a Masters Degree from West Chester University.
Mike was an accomplished athlete in H.S. and College with a long successful career as a highly respected teacher and coach at the Elementary, H.S. and College level. She taught physical education and coached field hockey, track, gymnastics and basketball. She started at Frenchtown High School & Delaware Valley Regional High School in New Jersey. She was a kindergarten teacher at Stony Brook Elementary School, Denville, NJ., a field hockey coach at Kutztown Univ. and finished her career as a physical education teacher and coach in the Fleetwood Area School District. She also ran many different athletic programs for young girls in her community. She is a member of the Port Washington H.S., Fleetwood H.S. and Kutztown University "Sports Hall of Fame".
Mike was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Lee, are her children, Michael L. Hill, husband of Cynthia A. (Mencke) Hill, Rollinsford, NH, Darcy L. (Hill) Miller, wife of Michael P. Miller, West Chester, Douglas E. Hill, husband of Katherine (Weber) Hill, Colorado Springs, CO and Joan M. (Hill) Matheson, wife of Jon G. Matheson, Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Mike was preceded in death by her sister, Joan R. Bowman.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mike with burial to follow in Spies Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike's Memory to St. Mary's R.C. Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown, PA 19530.
