Mrs. Paraskevou (Kyriakos) Phyrillas, 85, of Exeter Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
She was born in Engomi, Famagusta, Cyprus, on November 23, 1940, one of five children of Loizos and Eleni Kyriakos. She married Anastasis on October 23, 1960, in Cyprus. The family immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived in Reading until moving to Exeter Township in 1979.
While primarily a homemaker, Paraskevou worked for several years at the Letisse handbag factory in Reading. She was a faithful member of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, where she was a longtime member of the Saint Xenia Philoptochos Society. She was honored by the church as Mother of the Year in 2015.
Paraskevou volunteered for decades in the loukoumades (honey ball) room at the church's Greek Food Bazaar and was one of a handful of women who baked the Prosphora bread used every Sunday during the Divine Liturgy. She enjoyed baking, gardening, watching TV cooking shows, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Paraskevou is survived by her three sons, Tony A. Phyrillas, husband of Soula (Happas) Phyrillas, Mount Penn, Spiro A. Phyrillas, husband of Margaret (Pappas) Phyrillas, Exeter Township, and Louis A. Phyrillas, husband of Andrea (Soult) Phyrillas, Clearfield, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James, Maria, Anastasis and his wife, Angelique, Vasilis, Ted, Marina, and Angelene, and her brother, Haralambos Kyriakos, and two sisters, Kyriakou Kyprianou and Maria Loizou, all in Cyprus.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Onouphros Kyriakos, and a grandson, Patrick A. Phyrillas.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA. A Viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.
