Walter W. Gladney

Feb 23, 1934 — Jul 10, 2026

Walter W. Gladney, 92, of Greenwich Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Born at home on February 23, 1934, in Quakertown, Walt was the son of the late Walter S. and Mary C. (Pisczek) Gladney. Walt was married twice to two special ladies. His first wife, Ella Jane (Hafler) Gladney, passed away on June 6, 1983. Following her death, Walt married Lesley Ann (DeBoeser) Gladney, to whom he was married for 27 years until her death on August 17, 2014.

Walt served his country honorably and faithfully as a specialist in the United States Army from 1952 to 1958, serving in the Korean War.

Walt was a 1952 graduate of Quakertown High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1958.

Walt worked for 31 years for Western Electric Branch of AT&T, where he was an Engineering Supervisor. Walt specialized in semi-conductor materials engineering and held three patents for material processing.

Walt was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. He was a member of the International Miniature Airplane Association, where he served as Assistant Director for District 3. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics where he also served as a Contest Director and a member of Tri County Wing Snappers. When Walt wasn't working with model airplanes, or spending time at his favorite haunt, the Virginville Hotel, he could always be found doing what he loved, "Playing in the Dirt", or as most people call it, gardening.

Walt is survived by his children, Michelle L. Gladney, Hamburg, Susanne M. (Gladney) Long, Sugarloaf, PA, Walter S. "Scott" Gladney, South Boston, VA, his stepchildren, Kevin C. Noecker, Mohrsville, Stephanie A. (Noecker) Mohn, wife of Harold Mohn, Mohrsville, and Brian K. Noecker, husband of Diana D. (Conrad) Noecker, Kutztown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shaun, Briana, Jordan, Jarrett, Samantha, Sarah, Natalee and Michael, his great-grandchildren, Elizaveta, Milana and Gavin, and by his step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kenneth.

Along with his parents and two wives, Walt was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jamie Svenson.
