Alfred J. Evans

Alfred J. Evans, age 81, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 20, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Alfred and Olga Evans. He and his wife of 57 years, Ruth A. (Hirschman) Evans, were married on September 7, 1963 in Philadelphia.

Alfred was employed by Mellon Bank and by Artisans, both for 25 years, in theirs accounting departments. He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, where he had served as treasurer and was active with the cub scouts. He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he was an usher, helped with audits and was active with Boy Scout Troop 101. He enjoyed trains and was involved with the train display at the Kutztown Historical Society.

Alfred was a member of the Optimist Club of Kutztown and along with trains, enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling and even lugging many cases of girl scout cookies for his daughters.

In addition to the love of his life, Ruth, Alfred is survived by his four children, Karin A. (Evans) Davis wife of John A. Davis, Mount Laurel, NJ, Christine M. (Evans) Battin, wife of Joseph J. Battin, Kutztown, Lisa R. (Evans) Pimble, wife of Edward J. Pimble, Southampton, PA and Mark A. Evans, husband of Jessica R. (Guillama) Evans, Chalfont, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Sarah, Matthew, Edward, Jaclyn, Anna, Christian and Brenden, and by his great-granddaughters, Luna and Maeve.

Along with his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his sisters, Gwendolyn and Katherine.

The family will be having a private memorial service due to Covid restrictions at this time.
