Lance M. Babbitt, 70, of Mertztown, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born May 23, 1953 in Oneonta, New York, Lance was the son of the late Eleanor (Tubbs) and Marshall Babbitt.

Lance worked for over 30 years as a civil engineer for the Lehigh County Water Authority. He was a graduate of Oneonta High School, and Delhi University, New York, where he studied civil engineering. Lance was active in many community organizations throughout his life, having served as a member of the Jaycees, the Lions Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, among others. He was also a member of the Kutztown Rod & Gun Club and the Mertztown Rod & Gun Club.

Lance loved telling stories. His favorite place to hang out was the Toad Creek Bar & Restaurant, Topton, where he would entertain whoever he met with stories about life. Lance truly enjoyed spending time outside, especially on his deck with his favorite cigar and a PBR, listening to Frank Sinatra. Most of all, Lance loved his family and cherished spending time with them.

Lance is survived by his three children, Aaron L. Babbitt, husband of Phylena A. (Broadbrooks) Babbitt, Athens, Alabama, Adrienne L. (Babbitt) Smith, wife of Thomas H. McDowall, Nazareth, and Adam L. Babbitt, husband of Adrienne R. (Trembler) Babbitt, Temple. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria, Hannah and Evie, by his brothers and sisters, Georgia, Melanie, Julie and David, and by several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Lance was preceded in death by his precious granddaughter, Liana Lane Babbitt.

Services for Lance will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
