Mrs. Marie D. (Dietrich) Hamm

Mrs. Marie D. (Dietrich) Hamm, 87, of Fleetwood, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township, PA.

Born July 27, 1935 in Virginville, she was the daughter of the late Curtis W. and Anna M. (Heinly) Dietrich. She and her husband of 58 years, Wayne G. Hamm, Jr., were married on November 16, 1963 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.

Marie worked for 49 years for Fleetwood Bank. She was a teller and, later on, worked in the loan processing department. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where she served as secretary, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and served as a member of the altar guild.

Marie was a 1953 graduate of Fleetwood High School and a member of the Fleetwood Grange for over 25 years. She was past secretary and treasurer of the St. Paul's Union Cemetery and loved collecting dolls, visiting Disney World and going out to eat.

Along with her husband, Wayne, Marie is survived by her sister, Miriam A. (Dietrich) Mertz, wife of David L. Mertz, Lansdale, her nieces, Kristin A. (Mertz) Peacock, wife of Mark E. Peacock, Elgin, SC and Stacy L. (Mertz) Morris, wife of W. Todd Morris, Telford, PA, along with her other nieces and nephews, David, Michael, Troy and Carolyn. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Zachary, Rachel and Annalee.

Funeral Services for Marie will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the services in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township, PA.
