Robert E. Kopfer

Robert E. Kopfer, 79, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Tower Health, Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.

Born February 28, 1942 in Maidencreek Township, he was the son of the late Esther M. (Keim) and Ludwig J. Kopfer. He and his wife of 57 years, Caroll P. (Fizz) Kopfer, were married on April 18, 1964 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.

Bob has been farming for over 60 years, having owned and operated his farm, Four K's Farms, with Caroll since 1970. Robert was instrumental in farm preservation, both here in Berks County, where he was a member of the Land Preservation Board, as well as in Pennsylvania, where his farm was the first to be designated as a protected and preserved farm. Bob was a member of the Fleetwood Grange for 50 years, the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and served as a Maidencreek Township Supervisor.

Bob was a longtime member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown and a member of the Pike Township Sportsman's Association. He was a 1960 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School and loved NASCAR, bowling and hunting.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Caroll, are his children, Ann E. (Kopfer) Bush, wife of Jeffrey S. Bush, Bryans Road, MD, and David R. Kopfer, Maidencreek Twp., his grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher, Alexandra and her husband, Corey, Austin, Clayton and Colton, his great-grandchildren, Jackson and Dakota, and by his brother, Charles L. Kopfer, husband of Harvene Kopfer, Fleetwood.

Funeral Services for Bob will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Viewings will be held for Bob on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
