William W. Marvel Sr.

William W. Marvel Sr., 92, of Pottstown, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Tower Health, Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.

Born September 20, 1931in Roxborough, Bill was the son of the late William O. and Edith D. (Dragoo) Marvel. He and the love of his life, his wife of 69 years, Geraldine C. (Metzger) Marvel, were married on November 6, 1954.

Bill worked on the family farm until 22 when he began working in construction, as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. He went on to own and operate Marvel Excavating for many years. Bill was a member of Brownback's United Church of Christ, Spring City and attended Roxborough High School. Bill truly enjoyed gardening, working on his Model A, and tinkering in his garage. Bill was known for his strong faith, his generosity, and for always being willing to help anyone in need.

Bill is survived by his two children, Bruce R. Marvel, husband of Deborah J. (Kraynak) Marvel, South Coventry Township, and Lorraine C. (Marvel) Cassady, wife of John Cassady, Exeter. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Karen A. DiMarco, wife of George DiMarco, Royersford, Matthew Marvel, Trappe, Ashley Mossie, wife of Daniel Mossie, Exeter, Brett W. Marvel, husband of Aubrey Marvel, Royersford, Eric T. Marvel, husband of Bethany Marvel, Douglassville, Ryan J. Marvel, husband of Lauren Marvel, Audubon, and John Cassady Jr., husband of Amanda Cassady, Temple, and by his great-grandchildren, Noah, Becky, Riley, Hunter, Jack, Leah, Ellie, and Olivia.

Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, William W. Marvel, Jr., his granddaughter, Heather Leigh Marvel, and by his sisters, Jean I. Tweedie and Dorothy V. Sibole.

Graveside Services will be held privately by Bill's family with burial in Brownback's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Spring City.
